all right. joline ng has sent me the pics so i shall now post some pics! we arranged to meet to celebrate the birthdays of all the october babies at 1 shot!

as i said, i met li zhen and connie at the kovan mrt station at 2.30 to go eat pizza hut. after eating babita, joline and shih yann joined us to go to Cold Storage to buy ingredients for steamboat! spent $40++ on drinks, ingredients and titbits. it's quite cheap right? mother ang usually spends like $100 over, but then she buys more than us.

then shih yann and joline left to get the cake which was in shih yann's house. we took a cab frm kovan to connie's house. partly bcos i was wearing the SHOES FRM HELL. even places on my feet which i thought wasnt possible to get blisters, the SHOES FRM HELL managed to get them for me. the SHOES FRM HELL were frm People Of Asia, yellow pumps with a purple star or something.

anyway, one we reached connie's house, babita said, "connie, that's a coconut tree ah!"

connie: yeah..
babita: the coconut can eat ah?
connie: should be lah, my father plucked for us before.
babita: i want i want!

somewhere along those lines lah. we put away the food, li zhen was obsessed abt making jelly, and babita was obsessed abt plucking the coconuts. so, leaving li zhen in the kitchen to worry abt the insoluble particles that the jelly wasnt supposed to have, we went out to watch babita pluck the coconuts. [sadly the pics of her plucking coconuts were taken with li zhen's phone, bcos joline ng hadnt arrived yet, so no pics.]

shortly after li zhen gave up with the jelly and left connie's maid with it. she came out to take pics of babita. babita the coconut plucker plucked EIGHT coconuts! wahhhhhhhhh.

then we carried the coocnuts back to the house and babita now the coconut chopper started to TRY to chop the coconuts. after like half an hr or so she STILL couldnt even open 1 coconut so connie, thinking that it looked fun, joined in.

they spent so so long and finally babita cracked a hole in the coconut and filtered the juice out. she chopped, hammered, sawed and finally tore the coconut flesh off with her fingers. :/

finally! notice 1 coconut open and the other still dead.

then, joline and shih yann finally arrived. shih yann's mother made sushi! they saw connie and babita chopping, and after a while, they decided it looked fun too, and joined in. you know what they say, many hands make light work. then again, too many cooks spoil the broth. :D

as you can see, there are lots of coconut flesh on the floor. they are EVIL! poor coconuts!

GASP! THEY MURDERED A COCONUT!!!!!!!!!~

as a direct quite frm steven wong, look at the satisfied smiles on their faces.

Lo and behold, the Coconut Tribe! li zhen and i were saying that if they joined Survivor, they can chop coconuts for their tribe.

in the meantime while they were slogging away, me and li zhen were relaxing in the living room eating Doritos and seaweed, watching Charlie's Angels. WAHAHAHA. only when they finished then we went back to get the steamboat ready.

yummy food! coconut EXTRA! wahahaha.. the sushi is missing though...

i have to say that shih yann's mother makes good sushi. you can hardly taste that it's vegetarian. babita, joline and connie kept piling food onto the bbq part of the steamboat, and hot butter kept splattering onto me since i was sitting the nearest.

OMG my face is so freaking red. sitting near the steamboat is super hot. next time wanna lose weight, dont need to go gym! juz sit near a steamboat with boiling water and you sweat buckets!

tried babita's coconut juice. it tasted weird, actually. a little sweet but not that sweet. anyway, skip the dinner part, not that interesting anyway. moving on...
